Looking for hospital in Da Nang? Here's what you should know before you need one.
Da Nang has improved a lot medically in recent years. Vinmec International Hospital Da Nang is the standout option for foreigners, with a modern facility and English-speaking staff. Da Nang Hospital (C Hospital) is the main public hospital and handles emergencies well, though English is limited. Family Medical Practice also has a small clinic here. For anything that requires specialized surgery or complex treatment, Vinmec or a transfer to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi is the recommended path.
Vinmec consultations cost around 800,000 to 1,500,000 VND (32 to 60 USD). The public hospital is significantly cheaper but the experience for non-Vietnamese speakers is challenging. Most hotels along the beach strip can help arrange a visit to Vinmec and some have relationships with the hospital for guest referrals.
If you're staying at the beach resorts between My Khe and Non Nuoc, Vinmec is about a 15-minute Grab ride. For the Hoi An area (about 30 minutes south), Da Nang is the closest city with proper international medical facilities, which is worth knowing since Hoi An itself has very limited options. The emergency number is 115 but as with other Vietnamese cities, a Grab to Vinmec is often the faster route for non-life-threatening situations.
Vinmec has English-speaking doctors and bilingual reception staff. Family Medical Practice operates in English. The public hospitals are Vietnamese only for practical purposes.
Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children is the dedicated pediatric facility and handles everything from minor illnesses to emergencies. Family Hospital Da Nang also treats children and is popular with expat families. Both are used to treating foreign kids.
Traveling with three little kids means you learn these things fast.
