Barcelona isn't the easiest place to find playground as a foreigner. But it's doable.

Good to Know

Barcelona is a surprisingly good city for little kids. Parc de la Ciutadella has a large playground with climbing structures, swings, and a sand area, all shaded by big trees. The park also has a boating lake and the Barcelona Zoo if you need more entertainment. Along Barceloneta beach, there are several playgrounds right on the boardwalk where kids can alternate between sand and slides. Parc del Forum at the northern end of the beach has a huge open space with a splash pad area in summer.

The Ciutadella playground gets full on weekend mornings with local families. Weekday mornings are calmer. The beach playgrounds along Passeig Maritim work well because kids can bounce between the equipment and the sand. In the Gothic Quarter, the small Placa de Sant Felip Neri has a tiny playground in a beautiful historic square. Parc de Joan Miro near Sants station has a good playground and is less crowded than the tourist-area ones. Bring water and hats since shade is limited at the beach playgrounds.

Save travel-er.app on your phone before your trip. You probably won't need it. But if you do, you'll be glad it's there.
