Wondering about pediatrician in Bangkok? You're not the first. Here's what works.

What We Found

Bangkok has excellent pediatric care. You won't find standalone pediatrician offices the way you would back home, but the major private hospitals all have dedicated pediatric departments with English-speaking doctors. Samitivej Sukhumvit and Bumrungrad both have pediatric walk-in clinics where you can see a doctor without an appointment during daytime hours.

A pediatric consultation at a private hospital costs 1,500 to 3,000 THB (40 to 85 USD). If they run tests or prescribe medication, add another 500 to 2,000 THB depending on what's needed. We've taken our kids in for everything from ear infections to persistent coughs and the total bill has never been shocking.

For non-emergencies, the Samitivej pediatric department on Sukhumvit Soi 49 is our go-to. You can walk in, take a number, and usually see a doctor within 30 to 45 minutes. The pediatricians there are used to treating foreign kids and will explain everything clearly. If you need a specialist like a pediatric dermatologist or allergist, Bumrungrad has the widest range. For after-hours issues, both hospitals have 24-hour pediatric ER services.

All pediatricians at the international hospitals speak fluent English. They're also good at explaining things to worried parents in a calm, clear way, which matters when you're dealing with a sick child far from home.

Having three little kids on the road means we've become regulars at pediatric departments across Asia. Bangkok is genuinely one of the easiest cities for this. The wait times are short, the doctors are thorough, and the kids actually don't mind going because the waiting areas have toys and cartoons.

A friend asked us about this before their trip. Now it's here for everyone.

Hopefully this stays bookmarked and unused. But if you're in Bangkok and something comes up, travel-er.app is there.
